What's a Vision Board? Do I Need One to Manifest and How do I Make One?!
Let me tell you all about the magic of vision boards! They're a seriously powerful tool for manifesting your goals, dreams and desires, and they work with the science of your brain in the most amazing way - yep, vision boards are a SCIENCE! Not just a spiritual, nice to have, pretty collage of magazine clippings.
So, here's the thing: when you create a vision board, you're essentially creating a visual representation of everything you want in life. By doing that, you're sending a clear message to the universe that you're ready to receive it all. It's like placing an order with the universe or adding all of your deepest desires to your Amazon cart!
But here's where things get really interesting. The secret of vision boards lies in the reticular activating system (RAS) in our brain. The RAS is a network of neurons that filters information and prioritises what we pay attention to. By creating a visual representation of our goals and dreams, we are programming our RAS to focus on these desires, making it more likely for us to notice opportunities and take action towards achieving them. This means that by creating a vision board, you can not only connect with your goals on a deeper level, but you can keep them in the forefront of your mind, whilst working with your RAS to manifest your dream life faster.
Creating a vision board is easy and fun. You can use images, words, and phrases that resonate with you and represent your goals. Some people recommend using magazine cuttings but personally I don’t have a pile of magazines hanging around and I also don’t have the patience to look through them and chop them up - if you do, that’s totally fine! But I much prefer using online apps and programmes like Canva and Pinterest. The key is though, there is no set rule for vision boards, whatever works for you is what will work, so use this blog and podcast as guidance, and then trust your own intuition.
On your vision board, you might want to include money, business goals, your dream home, your dream car, a specific goal, a specific person, love - whatever it is you want to attract and manifest into your life.
As I said, you can use images for your board as well as words. If you want to create a vision board without pictures - that’s fine! Whatever works best for you.
Now, some people prefer to keep their vision boards hidden, but I would always recommend that you place it in a prominent place where you'll see it often - like your bedroom or office. I personally don’t meditate or visualise with mine, I just use it to signal to my RAS what’s important and sometimes I will take a moment to look over at it and remind myself that I deserve ALL of it and more! I also have my vision board scaled down and saved as my phone wallpaper so that I can see it every day. If you want to, you can take a few minutes each day to do a visualisation meditation of yourself having already achieved your goals while looking at your vision board.
Vision boards plus the power of your mind are a powerful combination and I am so passionate that every single person who is trying to manifest their dream life should have one. When we focus our attention on what we want, we begin to attract more of it into our lives. This is the Law of Attraction in action. By using a vision board, we are harnessing the power of visualisation and intention setting to manifest our desires.
I'm telling you, vision boards are the real deal. They're the ultimate tool for manifesting your desires, and you'll be amazed at how quickly things start to happen once you start using one. Manifesting without a vision board is possible, but using a vision board allows your reticular activating system to understand what is important in your life and I am certain that it speeds up the entire manifestation process.
